The Celtics earned a little Valentine's Day present by finally snapping their 18-game losing streak against the Bucks last night.
It didn't look pretty at first. The Bucks, who were also laboring under a rotten record, were pounding on the Celtics and closed the first quarter 32-19.
And then Paul Pierce and Gerald Green, who is gearing up for the All-Star Slam-Dunk competition Saturday night, caught fire. We remembered why we love Paul Pierce so much!
Things turned ugly for the Bucks. Earl Boykins, who at five-five is the best little guard in the league, got hurt, and the Celtics momentum continued until they won 117-97.
But there weren't many people around to see the tremendous victory. Bostonist reports, ". The balcony was really empty, though the lower level loge seats were filled with a fair amount of people who had "upgraded" their seats. In fact, there were a few women hanging out by the dunkie/mcdonalds by the N. Station commuter rail terminal who were giving away $75 seats. That's right: Giving them away."
Maybe people were busy wooing each other with flowers and candy. But the singles and sports fans should start heading down to TD Banknorth because the Celtics just got their spirit back.
