Just as the news outlets were questioning if they'd gone overboard on the Anna Nicole Smith coverage, Bostonist felt a tad envious. It seemed as if all the other -ists, including Houstonist, LAist, Phillyist, and Gothamist, had a connection to the dead model/pinup/reality-show star/trainwreck.
But now Boston can join in the fray! The Globe has showcased a distant link to Smith - a doctor who received his medical degree from Boston University is in trouble for giving Smith methadone, which was found in abundance in Smith's "death fridge."
Giving Smith methadone isn't that huge an issue since, well, the question of what killed her is surprisingly low on the list of the messes Smith left behind. But Smith received her methadone from Dr. Sandeep Kapoor under an assumed name.
BU didn't say much to the Globe. A BU rep admitted that Kapoor graduated from their medical school, but he said he didn't know anything else.
OK, now that we've made our link, we may have gotten Anna Nicole out of our system. That is, until more sordid details about her life and death emerge and we must indulge our trash-culture addiction once more.

To clarify, the "death fridge" you refer to is in the Bahamas. Anna Nicole died in Florida, so it technically could not have been the immediate cause of her death.
