Sports Redux: Borges Deep in the Labyrinth

borges-labyrinth.JPGThe Ron Borges been-caught-stealin' story ain't over. The Globe reporter who was suspended for two months without pay for taking content from the Tacoma News Tribune has stirred up quite the ethical debate over at Deadspin.

Deadspin has drawn the line between "pooling" content and stealing content, and Borges definitely did the latter. One reporter offered the "we did this in the '80s" defense. Well, not everything from the '80s was a good idea. Exhibit A: The hair on that dude from Flock of Seagulls. We rest our case. "Everybody does it" isn’t a good excuse, either.

Deadspin has a terrific discussion on L'Affaire Borges - go read it if you have the opportunity. We're providing credit and a link, which is what Borges should have done in the first place.

The Colorado Avalanche beat the Bruins last night, 2 to zero. What a downer. The Bruins needed that one. This is genuinely frustrating because they really have the skills. And it all collapsed.

But we've always got Daisuke Matsuzaka. Dice-K continues to live up to the hype. Yesterday, he threw for three scoreless innings against the Marlins down in Jupiter. After the injuries that plagued the Red Sox pitchers last season, we almost want to encase the guy in bulletproof glass or encase him in cotton. It's too good to be true.
