No one was madder about the Red Sox's rocky start than the game's starting pitcher, Curt Schilling. Curt's loooong wrapup of the game was glum beyond belief. Before launching into his recap, he said, "Not sure where to even start." He also said, "I knew my [fastball] command was crap."
His post generated 263 responses, many of which defended Schilling against Dan Shaughnessy. Well, Shonda Schilling had the opportunity to defend her husband against Shaughnessy when she got stuck sitting next to him on a flight to Kansas City. Shonda didn't talk to him, which says more than enough, doesn't it?
But we're not blowing off the season because of one "crap" start. We're holding out for Beckett's start against the Royals' Odalis "Disgruntled" Perez, which will be tonight in Kansas City at 8:00 pm.
Elsewhere, in the women's NCAA finals, Tennessee handily defeated Rutgers, 59 to 46. It's hardly a surprise as Tennessee is the T-Rex of women's basketball, and this is coach Pat Summitt's seventh NCAA title. They just stomp the competition.
Oh, and the Bruins lost to the Montreal Canadiens, 0 to 2. A large portion of the players seem to be participating in the game known as "break the goalie." Hannu Toivonen was goalie last night, and they pretty much made him do everything. Maybe the Bruins goalies should go on strike next season to see if the other players are capable of stepping up.
While this isn't sports, while channel-hopping, we saw Survivor do "Eye of the Tiger" last night on Dancing With the Stars. Do any of the Red Sox players have that as their theme? Because they could use a little pumping up.
