Boston Blotter: Scottsdale Wants You!
--Forget Ed Davis. The Scottsdale, Arizona, police department wants you. Brian McGrory writes in the Globe about seeing an ad for joining the police force – yes, Scottsdale, Arizona - in one of the men's toilets at Fenway Park.
It probably doesn't get any more "Boston" than the men's toilet at Fenway, so why on earth would Scottsdale be advertising there? McGrory called them and found they're doing it because they've got the money. And they could very well lure away people who might do our fair city some good. McGrory found that the Scottsdale PD has it pretty good with nice weather and low crime.
He also compares Boston funding conditions to those in Scottsdale, where they have a public safety tax: "In a city with virtually no crime, they pass a funding mechanism to add more cops. Here, in a city with a rising murder rate, weak-kneed pols like House Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi and his marble-minded minions starve the cities we should be trying to help."
Still of Steve Guttenberg enjoying the sun from Police Academy 2.

Does it trouble anyone else that we now get McGrory and Alex Beam on Wednesdays now. It hardly leaves anything for the rest of the week!
Don't forget Jeff Jacoby, the conservative columnist who liberals read to reaffirm their (well, our) liberalness.
