Your Suit Is So Blue…

difficultsituation-05-07.jpgAccording to Massachusetts is so blue that you can't tell if it's blue or black. We're not really sure what exactly that means. The Daily Show recapped the Republican debate and provided no fewer than three segments to dig into Mitt Romney. Perhaps it's a sign that the statesman from Massachusetts (and Utah, and Michigan, and…) is a front runner worthy of ridicule. But perhaps it's what we've known for a while: it's the little things like an extensive tour of the subway system that involves body guards and a ride the 100 feet from Park Street to Downtown Crossing on the Red Line that make Mitt a fun guy to make fun of. Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones edited up Romney's statements to include support of marriage between one man and al-Qaeda and support for a global jihadist effort, the check-in with Colbert at the end of the show painted Romney as soft on terror for supporting more elbow room for the terrorists by doubling the size of Guantanamo. Speaking of the doubling of Guantanamo, Stewart provided the best observation of the evening after he lauded Romney for sticking the "double Gitmo" by suggesting to the former Governor (and aristocrat from Massachusetts) "might want to go for a metaphor from the world of sports and not, say, from the world of haberdashery." Video of the segment is here, Mitt takes the stage about 1:15 into the clip.

Image is a screengrab from the Daily Show when Jon Stewart introduced "Difficult Abortion Situation" as the "worst Parker Bros. game, ever." $5 says he didn't know Parker Bros. started here in Massachusetts.

My guess is that "so blue is that you can't tell if it is blue or black" refers to the sliding scale of color. Open a Photoshop or Fireworks document and play with the RGB value.

If one considers so blue moving to the darker blues, Mr. Romney is saying it can't get any bluer. If one considers bluer moving to the lighter blues, Mr. Romney has it backwards. But, it is clear he holds to the former.
