Day spa for robots? The film crew for the Disney sci-fi thriller flick "The Surrogates" is filming on South Street in the Leather District this week. There's an interesting set being built at the Human Scale office located on 179 South Street. From the outside, it looks like a futuristic salon called "Artiface" where surrogates can get a makeover ... or better yet, a tune up.

This weekend I was friended on Facebook by someone claiming to be Dan Grabauskas, general manager of the MBTA. (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1324551806) If it's actually him, it's hilarious. If it's a parody, the earnestness of the parody is doubly hilarious.

more Red Line delays this morning...

the Red Line is running seriously slow today, in the direction of Alewife to Park Street, due to more "signal problems". First of many delays I expect during my commute this week.

on 06/16/2008

The Boston Police Dept have told bars they have to "shut the blinds to their bars" so people can't stand on the sidewalk outside and watch the game. They also announced a whole series of parking bans near the Garden and in Kenmore Square.

Way to fuck up what will hopefully be a glorious night in Boston sports history.

And kudos to BPD for working with the T for getting them to run late service since people can't park near major bars and clubs to watch the game. Oh, wait, scratch that last part. That would make sense. Typical Boston- unless bribes are switching hands, nobody knows what the other side is doing.

This weekend is going to suck if you live in one part of Boston and would like to go to a different part.

In addition to Saturday's Boston Gay Pride Parade, which will be packing downtown Boston with an estimated 500,000 spectators, the Cambridge River Festival will be closing Memorial Drive all day on Saturday. To top everything off, the Red Line will be taken out of operation between Park Street and Kendall/MIT so that crews can repair the hazardous Longfellow Bridge.

glad to be alive wow way to go celtics

on 06/12/2008

have you been on the Red Line lately? it is absolutely falling apart. yesterday, it took me OVER AN HOUR to get to Alewife from Park Street when we were told there was a "switch problem" at Alewife. this is a trip that normally takes me 25 minutes! and these are problems that are occurring in ADDITION to the whole Longfellow Bridge issue. this is the third time in the past two weeks that there has been some sort of non-bridge related delay. I now have to leave for work much earlier to budget in delay time on the Red Line. I really wish the MBTA would issue some sort of statement as to why so many track fires, out of service and/or disabled trains, and general delays between Park and Alewife.

http://www.tuaw.com/photos/boston-apple-store-boylston-street/

I know I'm not the only one who is sick as hell of everyone and their mother trying to claim a connection to the Red Sox as an advertising strategy, and now we have the Green Monstah Apple Store on Boylston. It's downright annoying how every Boston-based business feels the need to ride the World Series wave all the way to the bank. Businesses like Apple are the worst of the bunch because they don't even bother to pay the Red Sox for the privilege of the connection, hence (in theory) not contributing to all-important cause of keeping up with the Yankees' payroll. I expect this kind of behavior from Joey's Pizza Parlor and All-Nite Revue, but you would think that a successful international corporation like Apple would at least be able to pony up the necessary dough for official sponsorship, am I right?
