The Commomwealth's Speaker of the House, Sal DiMasi, is well-known for his opposition to Governor Deval Patrick's casino plan. There's no turning back now. The Globe reports today that DiMasi played golf at exclusive South Florida clubs with Joe O'Donnell, owner of Eastie's Suffolk Downs horse track, who wants a gaming license. They also report that DiMasi met the famously rich casino magnate Donald Trump "...at a cocktail party at the Mar-a-Lago Club, an......

Art Somerville's Nave Gallery has brought us thoughtful installations before, but their new "Ghost Town" sounds positively compelling. Artists imagine our earth in a process of transformation, with cities growing and shrinking, populations moving, people interacting with nature, and everything cycling both naturally and unnaturally toward growth, decay, and chaos. Might sound like a bunch of hippie nonsense, but we think it makes for some appealing art. "Ghost Town" runs through March 21 at......

--Wo ist Whitey? The Feds are going on the German equivalent of "America's Most Wanted" to ask for help looking for Whitey Bulger. If you are an old white guy planning a leisurely European tour or happen to know an old white guy considering such a trip, watch out for overeager foreign policemen, even if you wear a Yankees cap. Bostonist knows a girl who once got lingerie on Valentine's Day from her Dunkin' Donuts guy. They weren't dating or anything. He just thought a bra & panty set was an appropriate "getting to know you" gift. Take our advice: if you don't have access to her drawers, both literal and figurative, do not give her lingerie. If you are able to check her tags (or are one of the four people on earth who......

Two audience members stood out at Josh Ritter's October show in Somerville: the drunk Irishman who preferred to be escorted our rather than sit down, and the man who soberly and repeatedly called out, Play your old stuff. Last week's benefit shows may have been more to the latter's liking. (Bostonist attended the second of that Tuesday evening's two performances.) Did you need another reason to grow a mustache for Movember? Well, if you're a fan of The Office, we think Jim, Dwight, and Michael gave you three pretty good reasons last night: We especially like Dwight's dapper upturned 'stache, but we definitely recommend avoiding the, uh, backseat activity he attempted in the show. A visitor to the Fall Celebration held by the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) last Monday could be excused for getting a little lost. The Red Sox has permeated nearly every facet of Bostonist's lives.
