It felt great for a second or two, flipping the pages of the local dailies to check in with the Bruins. Win, win, shootout win, come from behind win, win...and then that Monday night game against the Capitals happened. The Bruins came back home to Boston last night a little humbled, but we'd hoped that they were ready to kick it up a notch and not make absolute fools of themselves again deliver a quality......

The organizers of the Boston Silent Dance Experiment can extol the artistic virtues of urban fun and collective improv performance to Bostonist, but this was merely 13 minutes of subversive bliss to most of the 300+ silent dancers that converged on Faneuil Hall this past Saturday afternoon. Unlike most clubs, everyone was anxious to join the nearest awkward stranger in the synchronized yet messy groove that ensued. Although the participants had very "flexible" definitions......

Dancing Hipsters Probably most famous for dating producing transatlantic hipster heartthrob MIA, Diplo made his name DJing. He spins in Allston tonight. Great Scott, 1222 Comm. Ave, Allston. 9:00 pm. $15. Music --Darkbuster's Hometown Throwup continues with Hub City Stompers, The Allstonians,......

Art Somerville's Nave Gallery has brought us thoughtful installations before, but their new "Ghost Town" sounds positively compelling. Artists imagine our earth in a process of transformation, with cities growing and shrinking, populations moving, people interacting with nature, and everything cycling both naturally and unnaturally toward growth, decay, and chaos. Might sound like a bunch of hippie nonsense, but we think it makes for some appealing art. "Ghost Town" runs through March 21 at......

Chinese New Year Harvard Square is celebrating the Year of the Rat with a Lion Dance Parade. Perhaps even more meaningful for some Cambridge residents, the Hong Kong (yay scorpion bowl!) is holding an open house in honor of its 54th anniversary. But be aware that they are having a craft party, not a scorpion bowl party. 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, free. Art Instruction You've seen the MFA's British Prints show, and you......

Valentine’s Day is coming up next week and women everywhere are shopping like crazy to find the perfect outfit for that special date. So what about all of those single girls who have a whole lot of nothing planned for that evening? Many of them will do the generic, sit home in sweats, eat ice cream out of the container, and curse their friends who are part of a couple. Bostonist would like to recommend......

HEARTHROB Tuesday, December 4th Middlesex Lounge 315 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge, MA 9pm / 21+ / FREE w/ special guests: Peppermint Twinz (Christopher Wade + Initiales A.A.) The Globe reports that the Milky Way will remain open through Monday, pending a court hearing. The Jamaica Plain bar and night club, one of three in Boston closed for failing to install fire sprinklers, won an injunction from Suffolk Superior Court last night. It reportedly came too late to prevent the cancellation of one event, the Rock 'N' Roll Fashion Show. The bar has requested a one-year extension from state fire officials for installing......

The boys are back in town, the taco meat has been brought up from the cellar, and all of New England's non-essential personnel are taking the afternoon off for a parade. (Dude...Tuesday afternoon? The Red Sox returned from a little trip of consequence out West on Monday and found several thousand fans waiting to welcome them back and get a taste of the victory parade planned for Tuesday. The Brendan Behan Pub isn't the greatest place in Boston to catch a ballgame. The Jamaica Plain watering hole is little more than a single room with booths crammed to one side, the bar taking up the other. But its patrons......

Fox 25 sportscaster Butch Stearns was either plumb dumb exhausted after the Red Sox won the ALCS, or he lost his mind. Via Universal Hub, we learned that after the game he interviewed Julio Lugo. Post-game interviews are always awkward because the players so clearly want to go drink, have a sandwich, bathe in champagne, or dance if they're Jonathan Papelbon. Lugo was no exception--he was celebrating by puffing on a stogie. In the video......
