It started with a welcome sight: the Celtics playing at home for the first time in months and months (it seemed). It had a great moment when Eddie House came back, if you can call it back, since he hadn't missed any home games, and got and gave back all appropriate love from the Garden crowd. And, most importantly, it ended with a win, as the Celtics survived another big-lead-giveaway and held on to beat the Knicks 110-106. more ›

You don't spend the early part of your career getting waived by chumps like the Bucks and Bobcats, only to find yourself a key rotation guy on a championship team, without realizing that basketball is a crazy world. And since he seems to internalized the fact that he'll be a Knick later today - "I have friends that I will have for the rest of my life on this team, but it’s life. The Boston Celtics needed a 24-14 surge in the fourth quarter to beat the New Jersey Nets, 96-87, on Friday night. The Nets led the game 73-72 after three quarters, which necessitated the furious comeback in the first place. Color us underwhelmed at this victory. Yes, the 4-45 Nets who sit 27.5 games out of first place in the Atlantic division and have won one road game on the 2009-2010 schedule forced the Celtics into a fourth-quarter rally to improve to 32-16. With Paul Pierce sitting out a second-straight game, scoring in the stretch fell to Eddie House, who scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter to spark the comeback. more ›

Eddie House wants to be in the 3-point contest at the NBA All Star Weekend in Dallas, so much so that he is shoveling off the line to make it rain in the snow. Rather fittingly, Tori Amos' "Winter" played on our Pandora as we wrote this post. We get a little warm in our heart when we think of Eddie, and we wonder if he likes Tori. Such was the fate of the Dallas Mavericks yesterday; they're a good team, not a great one, and were torn limb-from-limb by a hungry, determined, focused Celtics team. Last night was one of the strangest games we've seen in a while at the TDBG. With the unremarkable Clippers in town, the second quarter had a playoff-like intensity to it, with technicals, an ejection, and some really scrappy play. The fourth quarter showed a surprising lineup, as Doc left the second unit (House, Powe, Davis, Posey, Tony Allen) in for almost the entire time. Most surprising of all - the bench played some fantastic defense and better-than-expected offense to close the Clips out. more ›

Any objective observer would agree that last night's game was a game the Celtics honestly didn't deserve to win. They didn't shoot well, they looked tired after the Laker game, and they were facing a Bobcat team that may have no identity whatsoever, but played with spunk and energy the whole time.
