Because there's no footage like shaky blurry footage shot from the windswept Conigliaro's Corner. But we were there, man. We were there. more ›

Long live the Slutter! There was much to celebrate in Red Sox circles last night, but at the top of the list, we have Jonathan Papelbon's brand (spanking) new pitch. The Slutter - a name that will leave mothers gasping as they cover the ears beneath their children's tot-sized hats and the cast of characters at the Cask'n Flagon cracking up. The Red Sox vernacular has expanded by leaps and bounds this season. We learned... more ›
Unless you're somewhere in the Blue Hills living in a cave, you are aware that today is opening day at Fenway Park. The Red Sox open the 2007 season at home against Ichiro the Seattle Mariners, with Josh Beckett taking the hill. Bostonist expects to hear a thunderous ovation for our returning Red Sox, and a warm welcome for the new guys (JD Drew, Julio Lugo). Outside of today's team introductions Bostonist was contemplating what events spanning the 81 games played at the Fens would send the Fenway Faithful into a frenzy. The following five events are some of the can't-miss occasions for those who love being able to say "I was there this season when ..." -

A lot was at stake last night for the Red Sox. They had to avoid a sweep from the Texas Rangers, and Curt Schilling needed to prove himself after his unfortunate first outing against the Kansas City Royals. Prove himself he did. Despite some shaky moments from reliever Javier Lopez, Jonathan Papelbon came out and got the job done, helping the Red Sox defeat the Rangers 3 to 2. more ›

The season has begun! Well, it really starts for the Red Sox tomorrow when they play against the Kansas City Royals, but we have a raging case of spring fever. The Red Sox held their last spring training game against the Phillies. With Daisuke Matsuzaka pitching, the team won 7 to 5. However, on Fox 25, we caught a glimpse of the Phillies' Pat Burrell giving Terry Francona the one-fingered salute. When people are flipping... more ›
The NCAA final four is tonight, with Georgetown playing Ohio State at 6 pm and UCLA playing Florida at 8:47 pm. To which we say, go anyone but Georgetown! Apologies to Doc Rivers' son, Jeremiah Rivers, who plays on the team as a guard with burly center Roy Hibbert, but we can't root for the team that thumped Boston College. And the start of baseball season is tomorrow. Since the first game of baseball season... more ›
Oh how Bostonist loves irony and when speaking about the Red Sox right now, we think it is all very ironic. The Herald featured an article yesterday about how Red Sox management is discouraging fans from sporting their eloquently worded, "Yankees Suck" t-shirts when visiting ol' Fenway Park. They kindly ask fans to turn their classy t-shirts inside out, because those "Yankees Suck" t-shirts aren't very "family-friendly." According to the chief communications guy for the Sox, "We are determined to keep Fenway a place where families feel comfortable." Bostonist would like to point out that the t-shirts don't actually shout out that the Yanks suck; those are the fans who lead a park-wide chant of "Yankees Suck" when Jeter steps up to the plate. Perhaps a little talking to the crowd about good sportsmanship will do the trick? Right now, the shirts aren't fully outlawed at the park, but Sox management legally does have a right to ban any sort of offensive material. more ›
